Senior School Years
Students entering the final years of their schooling at Akshar Arbol International School have a choice between two world-class school finishing programmes: the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) and the Cambridge AS/A Levels.
The IB Diploma Programme - IB DP (Grades 11 & 12)

Designed for students aged 16 to 19, this is an academically challenging and balanced programme that prepares students for success at university and beyond. The IB DP is recognised and respected by the world’s leading universities and is fast gaining recognition in India.

The Core Elements of the IB DP
Theory of Knowledge (TOK) is a critical thinking component where the students choose a knowledge question and discuss the nature of knowledge and how they know.
The Extended Essay (EE) is an independent and self-initiated research assignment on a topic chosen by the student. He / She is mentored by a supervisor to investigate a topic of interest to analyse, synthesize and communicate their findings.
Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) involves student interaction with the community through activities and projects stemming from identified needs. As they build relationships with the communities, students grow in their understanding of real-world problems and a recognition of their own strengths.
The IB Diploma Programme prepares students for effective participation in a rapidly evolving and increasingly global society.
Cambridge AS/A Levels - (Grades 11 & 12)
A deeper understanding and application of content to pave a successful career path is best achieved through this dynamic programme. The Cambridge A levels is a two-year programme while the AS level is a one-year programme. The subjects chosen at the AS level are extended to a Cambridge International A Level, like in other IB schools in Chennai.
The AS/A level programme is designed to:
- Enhance Independent thinking
- Develop In-depth knowledge
- Apply the knowledge acquired
- Develop higher order thinking
At AAIS, a wide range of subjects are offered at the AS and A levels from the Sciences, the Humanities, and Languages.
Beyond CIE AS/A Levels and the IB Diploma Programme
The Association of Indian Universities in India accepts the IB Diploma and the Cambridge AS/A Levels as equivalent to Class 12 qualification from an Indian board. However, acceptance alone does not guarantee entry into a course.
At AAIS, we offer career counselling to all our students together with their parents, as students enter High School grades.
