At AAIS, we believe that it is never too early to introduce responsibility and leadership. Hence, the PYP Squad elections only seemed natural. When the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders were informed about the elections, they were all excited and all ready, even before they knew the complete process. 4th and 5th graders reflected on why they would make good leaders and campaigned with meaningfully-designed posters.
To our students, the PYP Squad elections gave a small peek into the world of democratic elections and leadership.
Students voted their Captains and Vice captains for Jal and Agni Houses. Voters also learnt about voting responsibly without bias. Regardless of who won or lost, the elections saw active participation from a large number of students, and we believe that itself is a successful first step.
